Residents and visitors to Parramatta will enjoy free parking over the Easter long weekend, with Parramatta City Council turning off parking meters and offering free parking at parking stations across the City.

Free parking in Parramatta will start from 6am on Friday, 29 March until midnight or respective closing times of parking stations on Monday, 1 April. Parking time limits will remain.

Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Councillor John Chedid said this initiative followed his call in late 2012 to provide free parking across Parramatta leading up to major public holidays.

“Giving people free parking during public holidays is a small way for Council to give back to the community,” Cr Chedid said.

“It’s also a great way for us to attract visitors and shoppers to our City, which could only benefit local businesses. During these uncertain economic times, businesses, particularly those in retail, could do with a bit of a helping hand.

“It also makes life easier for people wanting to attend church services in Parramatta over the Easter period,” Cr Chedid said.
